MDPI, an open access publishing company focused on rapidly disseminating diverse academic ideas, has announced a partnership with the Korean Society of Cosmetics, led by President Hwang Jae-sung from Kyung Hee University's Department of Genetic Engineering. The collaboration, established recently, encompasses five MDPI journals, including the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (IJMS), recognized in SCIE and ESCI.

The agreement specifically addresses the journals IJMS, Antioxidants, Biomolecules, Cosmetics, and Molecules. These journals broadly cover key research areas of the Korean Society of Cosmetics, focusing on cosmetics and chemistry, including antioxidant, biochemical, and molecular/cellular biology research.

Among the listed journals, IJMS, Antioxidants, and Biomolecules are indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE), while Cosmetics is included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). Notably, IJMS, Antioxidants, and Biomolecules have recorded impact factors (IF) of over 5.6 and are included in the top 25% of their respective fields according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and CiteScore, qualifying them as Q1 journals.

Members of the Korean Society of Cosmetics will benefit from discounted article processing charges (APC) for submissions to the partner journals without incurring additional membership fees or maintenance costs. Additionally, members will receive benefits such as English proofreading services, discounts on book publishing, and various supports for academic activities.

President Hwang expressed his enthusiasm for forming partnerships with MDPI's high-quality journals indexed in SCIE and ESCI, stating that he hopes this collaboration will enhance the competitiveness of domestic cosmetics research and promote K-beauty research achievements globally.

Lee Sang-woo, MDPI Korea's branch manager, remarked on the significance of cooperating with the Korean Society of Cosmetics, a leader in domestic cosmetics science research. He emphasized that MDPI aims to expand collaboration with local societies, actively supporting open access publishing and the global dissemination of research achievements from Korean researchers.

MDPI has been actively engaging with domestic academic organizations. Following a partnership with the Korean Society of Product Safety established in May, MDPI recently formed the first publishing partnership with the Korean Physical Therapy Association on the 10th. Currently, MDPI collaborates with six academic organizations, including the Korean Society of Cosmetics, to support open access publishing and international scholarly exchanges for Korean researchers.
