COSMECA KOREA, a global cosmetic manufacturing specialist, has become the first company in Korea to implement ISO 37002, an internal reporting management system for handling grievances and compliance violations, as of the 8th.
ISO 37002 provides international guidelines for safely receiving and processing reports of misconduct and regulatory or ethical violations. The guidelines encompass the entire process from report reception to evaluation, investigation, whistleblower protection, and post-management. This introduction is significant as it establishes an official management system following the report-processing phase.
COSMECA KOREA has thoroughly reassessed its existing framework, creating specific provisions for 'internal reporting management.' The procedures for reception, evaluation, investigation, protection, resolution, and post-management have been further fleshed out. The scope of reporting has also expanded to include customers, partner companies, suppliers, contractors, and consultants, in addition to employees.
Reports can be submitted through multiple channels, including the company's Cyber Reporting Center, departmental email, phone, written submissions, or in-person interviews, and can be made both anonymously and with real names. At least one channel operates independently.
Received reports are categorized and prioritized based on specificity, evidence, urgency, and potential impact on the business and reputation. The investigation process ensures fairness and provides the accused party an opportunity for clarification.
Whistleblower protection has been prominently enhanced as a core principle. The identities of whistleblowers and the contents of their reports are shared only within the necessary operational limits. Any retaliatory actions, such as dismissal, reassignment, or other discriminatory measures against whistleblowers, are expressly prohibited. In cases of such repercussions, corrective measures will be implemented. Further, the number of reports, processing times, and enforcement of protective measures will be regularly monitored, with any identified weaknesses addressed through system and educational improvements to prevent recurrence.
A representative from COSMECA KOREA stated that the introduction of this certification has laid a systematic foundation for managing the entire process from report reception to post-management. The company aims to create an environment wherein employees and stakeholders can confidently report issues, fostering a preventive culture against unethical practices.
COSMECA KOREA plans to integrate ISO 37001 (Anti-Corruption), ISO 37301 (Compliance Management), and the Fair Trade Self-Regulation System (CP) with the new ISO 37002, while also expanding regular training and promotion of reporting channels among all employees to enhance the practical activation of these systems.
