CJ Olive Young has successfully entered major markets in Southeast Asia by launching the ‘OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit’ in partnership with the global beauty platform Sephora. This expansion encompasses key offline stores and online platforms in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong.

The partnership, officially established in January, aims to leverage Sephora's extensive distribution network to enhance the visibility of appealing K-Beauty brands among global consumers.

Initial success is observable in the U.S. Sephora stores, where brands included in the K-Beauty Edit, such as 리쥬란, 아렌시아, and 토리든, have doubled their daily sales at the end of September compared to August, indicating strong local consumer interest.

With a population of around 700 million in Southeast Asia, including a young demographic of 34% aged between 15-34, the region presents considerable growth potential for K-Beauty. Notably, Singapore and Thailand ranked among the top five foreign buyers in domestic Olive Young stores this year.

To effectively cater to this market, Olive Young is offering tailored curation that considers local climate and consumer needs, emphasizing skincare products suited for the hot and humid environment, such as those from brands like 닥터엘시아, 마녀공장, and 바이오힐보.

In conjunction with the store openings, offline promotional events will commence to further engage local consumers. A pop-up event at ION Orchard, a premium shopping complex in Singapore, from October 8 to 14, will enhance brand visibility and provide skin diagnosis services and beauty samples, featuring curated themes such as slow aging and skin barrier care.

According to Olive Young, this initiative promotes the entry of promising Korean beauty brands into major global retail channels while continually expanding the global presence of K-Beauty based on consumer data and trends.

Kristina Strunz, Managing Director of Sephora Southeast Asia and Oceania, expressed optimism regarding the collaboration, noting that Southeast Asian consumers are eager to discover emerging trends from Korea in real-time, and that the partnership aims to deliver innovation and novelty to this region.
