Cosmeca Korea, a global leader in standardized production for cosmetics, has announced a collaboration with the research team at Sungkyunkwan University to advance the development of a new emulsifier utilizing next-generation White Bio materials. This initiative is focusing on the enhancement of large-scale manufacturing processes for the emulsifier.

The research collaboration will build on the results from the first year, emphasizing the refinement of mass production processes for core materials and the development of a new non-ionic emulsifier. The two institutions plan to secure high-value-added cosmetic materials by integrating all steps from material production to emulsifier synthesis, formulation evaluation, and commercialization.

Emulsifiers are essential ingredients in cosmetics, allowing for the stable combination of immiscible components such as water and oil, thereby influencing product formulation and user experience. As the demand for sustainability in the global cosmetics market increases, the importance of bio-based materials to replace petroleum-derived raw materials and the emulsification technology utilizing these materials has also grown.

Sungkyunkwan University aims to elucidate material characteristics and enhance synthesis technology through fundamental research. Cosmeca Korea will apply these findings to actual cosmetic formulations to verify performance and applicability. The objective is to secure unique emulsifying materials and formulation technologies, ultimately leading to commercialization.

Key initiatives include: enhancing economic viability in production processes through advanced refinement technology; developing and constructing evaluation platforms for new non-ionic emulsifiers; and commercializing customized novel formulations in response to global market demands.

A representative from Cosmeca Korea stated, “In an environment where global ESG regulations are tightening, securing sustainable, high-value bio materials is a crucial factor that determines corporate competitiveness. We aim to innovate formulations that surpass the limitations of existing cosmetics based on our unique new emulsifiers and enhance our technological competitiveness in the global market.”
