COSMAX has marked a significant milestone as South Korea ascends to the position of the largest importer in the U.S. beauty market. The company recently hosted the 'KOOM K-Beauty Creator Awards' in Manhattan, New York, in collaboration with the United Korean Founders (UKF) network.
This event was a highlight of the 'KOOM WEEK 2026', the largest K-brand and startup festival in North America, aimed at elevating K-Beauty's global stature and presenting a new benchmark for localization strategies.
Attendees included I Kyung-soo, Chairman of COSMAX Group, and Lee Byung-joo, CEO of COSMAX BTI. The achievements of COSMAX's U.S. branch, which turned profitable this year, alongside Korea's recognition as the top importer of beauty products in the U.S., underscored the significance of the event.
At a dinner held prior to the awards, Chairman I emphasized that the fundamental drivers behind K-Beauty's rise to prominence in the global beauty industry are 'creativity' and 'speed.' He stated, 'K-Beauty is expanding widely and rapidly, establishing itself as a new standard in the global beauty industry. Its essence lies in the ability to swiftly actualize creative ideas and the dynamic diversity generated by numerous indie brands.'
He further elaborated that COSMAX has been providing tailored formulations to address various consumer skin concerns, drawing on years of research and development data. 'The scientific innovation and authenticity embedded in our products explain why consumers worldwide are passionate about K-Beauty,' he asserted.
COSMAX plans to accelerate its localization strategy in the U.S. market following this event. The company aims to strengthen its support system for K-indie brands looking to enter the local market, leveraging the infrastructure of its recently profitable U.S. branch.
Chairman I conveyed a vision of COSMAX as a 'solid support entity' that leads the way and shares the burden as K-indie brands with excellent ideas conquer the challenging global marketplace.
The event, which operated by invitation only, welcomed about 150 influential beauty influencers and creators active in North America, reflecting K-Beauty's elevated status. Key figures from the local industry, including Jeong Se-joo, President of the UKF, also attended to lend support to COSMAX's global efforts.
Following the awards, COSMAX intends to diversify partnerships with creators that communicate K-Beauty's excellence at consumer touchpoints, continually developing localized success models through data-driven, customized product development.
A COSMAX representative expressed, 'It is deeply meaningful to share K-Beauty's prowess in the heart of New York with local partners who have driven its growth. Moving forward, COSMAX will integrate its advanced technology and global infrastructure to ensure K-Beauty becomes a leader in the worldwide beauty industry.'
