Amorepacific Holdings has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Climate Crisis Response Committee, which is chaired by Prime Minister Han Seung-soo and civilian chairman Lee Chang-hoon. This agreement enables the launch of the 'Green Benefits National Participation Expansion Campaign', which links the committee's policy initiatives with Amorepacific's ESG capabilities and consumer engagement.
The signing ceremony, held on the morning of the 25th, featured key participants including Kwon Soon-cheol, Executive Vice President of Amorepacific, and Lee Chang-hoon, as well as Chun Young-hoon, CEO of Pulmuone Foods, representing the co-signatory, among other notable figures.
The 'Green Benefits National Participation Expansion Campaign' encourages citizens to naturally practice carbon neutrality in their everyday consumption habits while expanding opportunities for engagement. Through this partnership, Amorepacific aims to lead the movement towards a low-carbon product consumption culture centered on 'sustainable beauty'.
Amorepacific is also committed to actively participating in the 'Net Zero Friends' initiative targeting the younger generation, supported by the National Climate Response Committee, which involves project discovery, selection, mentoring, and various supportive activities to help realize youth-led carbon-neutral ideas.
The company has previously made significant strides in reducing plastic use, enhancing recycling and recovery, and aims to achieve global RE100 certification by 2025—the first among private companies in South Korea—marking its commitment to greenhouse gas reductions across all business activities. This MOU further solidifies Amorepacific's role as a collaborative model in climate response at the group level.
Kwon Soon-cheol emphasized the importance of responding to the climate crisis as a process that transcends business sustainability, stating, "This agreement will facilitate the expansion of low-carbon consumption culture and encourage greater public participation in sustainable beauty practices through various collaborative projects."
