The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), led by Commissioner Oh Yu-kyung, is set to commemorate the second official 'Cosmetics Day' on September 7. The aim is to raise awareness of the significance of the day and showcase the achievements of K-Beauty through various initiatives starting from August 28.
Beginning on August 28, the MFDS will launch a 'Cosmetics Day Event' on its official social media channels. This initiative allows the public to engage by sharing posts about the event with friends and leaving comments for a chance to win prizes through a drawing.
Participants can join by following the MFDS Instagram (@mfdskorea), sharing the 'K-Beauty Cosmetics Day Rumor Event' post, commenting, and then submitting a form via a QR code. Additionally, the cosmetics industry will conduct various promotional activities, including discounts and comment-driven events starting from August 31, with 22 participating companies, including Amorepacific.
'Cosmetics Day' was established as an official commemoration last year to enhance public understanding and interest in the safe use of cosmetics. The MFDS, in collaboration with the Korea Cosmetic Association and the industry, plans to promote the status and achievements of K-Beauty, its developmental processes, and related policies through diverse events.
This year's 'Cosmetics Day' will feature a commemorative ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul under the theme 'The Confidence of K-Beauty Blossoms,' engaging government, national assembly, and industry representatives. The theme aims to celebrate Korea's achievements in becoming the second-largest exporter of cosmetics globally last year.
To further enhance the experience, a 'K-Beauty Experience Hall' will be opened at Seoul Plaza, allowing citizens to directly experience the excellence and latest technologies in K-Beauty products. This hall will be divided into 'Corporate' and 'Policy' sections—where businesses will showcase new technologies and products, and government agencies will present cosmetic-related policies and major tasks.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Korean Society of Cosmetic Science, a seminar will be held on September 8, focusing on 'Integrated Science for Skin Health and Beauty,' discussing the latest cosmetic technologies and ways to strengthen global competitiveness with industry and academic experts.
The MFDS remains committed to ensuring consumers can safely use quality cosmetics and that excellent domestic products successfully enter global markets.
