Osulloc, a leading luxury tea brand in South Korea, is sponsoring the first large-scale exhibition of Sol LeWitt, titled Sol LeWitt: Open Structure , at the Amorepacific Museum of Art. To commemorate the opening, the brand will offer a unique experience that extends the inspiration drawn from LeWitt’s works into tea and culinary arts.
On August 31, Osulloc will provide a special catering service at the exhibition's opening event for art professionals. This will feature a catering table inspired by LeWitt's geometric structures and colors, along with Osulloc’s signature trolley, creating a harmonious setting where art and tea converge.
Focusing on the characteristics of LeWitt’s works—structure, repetition, and color—Osulloc has developed a special tea and tea food menu under the concept 'Open Structure, Expressed in Tea.'
The featured dish, the 'Color Tea Cube,' is a mousse cake inspired by LeWitt's Wall Drawing #596 , using matcha base with strawberries, blueberries, black sesame, and mango to represent the four colors within the piece. Another offering, 'Open Cube Tea Yakyang,' takes structural inspiration from Serial Project #1 , combining the rich flavors of matcha and hojicha with a subtle sweetness from white chocolate. Additionally, the 'Shoe in the City,' inspired by the artist's Map series, combines matcha vanilla custard and white chocolate.
Besides these offerings exclusively for the opening event, ordinary visitors will also be able to experience tea inspired by LeWitt's works. Starting September 1, coinciding with the opening of the exhibition, Osulloc will present a limited-edition drink called 'Matcha Latte In the City,' inspired by LeWitt's Map of London , embodying the idea of filling the empty spaces in the artwork with Osulloc’s tea. This drink will feature rich matcha enhanced with tropical sweetness and smooth cream, available for purchase at the Osulloc Teahouse in Yongsan Park.
An Osulloc representative stated, “This exhibition sponsorship is designed to expand the inspiration gained from Sol LeWitt’s works into tea and culinary experiences, allowing audiences to engage with art in a more diverse way. We hope attendees will experience artistic inspiration through tea while discovering the new tea culture proposed by Osulloc.”
The Sol LeWitt: Open Structure exhibition will run from September 1 to February 28, 2027, showcasing a broad perspective on the artist's oeuvre through 45 works, including wall drawings, structures, paintings, photographs, prints, and archives.
