Global beauty company ABLE C&C's brand MISSHA has announced its entry into the pharmacy channel with its flagship product, M Perfect Cover BB Cream PRO, now available at LINE YOUNG pharmacy in Myeongdong, Seoul.

This launch represents a strategic initiative that goes beyond merely establishing a new sales channel; it aims to enhance the BB cream’s positioning as a hybrid dermatological and clinical beauty product. BB creams were originally developed in Germany to soothe and protect skin following dermatological procedures, while also covering skin blemishes. Over time, particularly in South Korea, these products have evolved to include UV protection, hydration, and color correction, solidifying their status as a staple in K-beauty base makeup.

The unique characteristics of BB creams, which encompass both skincare and makeup, have seen a resurgence in popularity in relation to the booming aesthetic treatment culture in Korea. With dermatological procedures like laser treatments gaining mainstream acceptance, there is an increasing demand for products that allow consumers to manage their skin condition while continuing daily activities. Consequently, BB creams that offer simultaneous UV protection, hydration, and natural coverage are emerging as 'downtime care' products.

Pharmacies like LINE YOUNG are becoming new beauty touchpoints for consumers seeking post-treatment skincare products. In Myeongdong, frequented by foreign tourists, the K-beauty shopping route is expanding beyond Health & Beauty stores and roadside shops to include pharmacies. Through this entry, ABLE C&C aims to effectively convey the competitive edge of its skincare-based hybrid products.

Since its launch in 2007, the M Perfect Cover BB Cream PRO has surpassed cumulative sales of 100 million units and has achieved the number one position in the BB cream category on Amazon in the United States, affirming its market competitiveness internationally. The product employs a natural fermentation process using 300-year-old traditional Onggi pottery from Boseong, Gyeongnam, ensuring hybrid efficacy that combines coverage with skincare.

The launching product is available in three shades: 21, 23, and 25. At LINE YOUNG in Myeongdong, which caters primarily to foreign tourists, there has been noticeable interest in the darker shades, particularly shade 25, which has rapidly increased in sales despite being introduced later.

According to a representative from ABLE C&C, "MISSHA BB Cream is a global steady seller that has been loved by consumers both domestically and internationally for a long time; thus, this expansion into pharmacies is expected to be an opportunity to capture new consumer demand." The company emphasized that it will closely monitor consumer responses and purchasing patterns, continuously exploring products and distribution methods suitable for the pharmacy channel.
