On Cosmetics Day, LG Household & Health Care (LG H&H) was recognized for its outstanding research and development (R&D) capabilities. At the ceremony held on the 7th, CTO Kang Nae-kyu received the Industrial Merit Medal on behalf of the company from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, acknowledging the firm’s contributions to cosmetic safety management and industry advancement.
Despite challenging business conditions, LG H&H continues to make significant annual R&D investments, amounting to approximately 160 billion won. Notably, the company has utilized skin big data from over 60,000 Asian individuals to identify seven key genes involved in pigmentation, marking a world-first achievement. Moreover, it has recently developed the anti-aging ingredient 'NAD Power24™' and launched multiple new products, including 'The History of Whoo’s Bi-Yeon NAD Power Ampoule'.
During the event, Kang Nae-kyu and officials from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety highlighted their collaboration in advancing the technology competitiveness of the domestic beauty industry through innovative ingredient development and genetic-dermatological research.
The company also shared core R&D achievements at the 1st Global Cosmetics Regulatory Authority Directors Conference (GCORAS), held the same day in Seoul, which included participation from regulatory bodies across 13 countries such as Indonesia, UAE, and Mexico. Within the K-beauty exhibition area established for the conference, LG H&H showcased its skin diagnosis-based skincare product proposal technologies.
In tandem with these initiatives, key beauty brands such as The Face Shop and Physiogel offered promotional discounts to celebrate Cosmetics Day. Kang emphasized that LG H&H has been a representative K-beauty company since the release of Lucky Cream in 1947, aiming to foster the cosmetics industry ecosystem and lead in globalization. He reiterated the company’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence and big data-driven bioscience research to deliver differentiated technologies and safety.
