The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in South Korea has announced the implementation of ‘GMP Training for Cosmetic Experts,’ taking place online from October 6 to 7. This initiative aims to promote compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification for domestic cosmetic manufacturers and to enhance global quality competitiveness.
The training is structured into two distinct courses designed to deepen industry understanding of GMP: a basic course titled 'Understanding CGMP' on October 6, and a specialized quality control course titled 'CGMP Quality Management' on October 7.
The basic course will cover essential topics such as the understanding of cosmetic GMP systems, responses to the U.S. MoCRA and FDA OTC regulations, and information on government-supported smart factory projects. The specialized course will focus on practical skills necessary for quality management in cosmetics, including quality control strategies, common audit issues, and document management.
Interested participants can pre-register through the Korea Cosmetic Association's educational center website. Since 2016, the MFDS has been conducting consulting and educational support initiatives for CGMP, resulting in tailored consulting for 138 companies, with 64 of these (46%) designated as CGMP-compliant. To date, a total of 37 training sessions have been conducted, resulting in the cultivation of 2,559 industry professionals.
The MFDS particularly aims to bolster K-beauty’s global competitiveness and plans to significantly expand the support to over 100 companies next year through consulting and training initiatives. They encourage industry engagement and participation in GMP activation programs.
This training is expected to aid cosmetics companies in effectively preparing for CGMP operations and assessments, contributing to the strengthened quality management capabilities of domestic manufacturers and sustaining the export growth of K-cosmetics.
