The Seoul Business Agency (SBA) is making a substantial effort to facilitate the entry of Seoul-based small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into the Middle Eastern market through its 'Seoul Lifestyle Hub Initiative.' This initiative will enable Korean companies to evaluate their market viability in Oman.
In collaboration with its partner company, Cross Combine, the SBA officially opened a testbed hub for the local market on October 5, where 30 Seoul lifestyle businesses are participating. A launch event held on October 22 successfully attracted key stakeholders from the Oman region.
This hub consists of 26 beauty companies, three food enterprises, and one fashion company—all of which are venturing into the Omani market for the first time. Over the next two months, these companies will showcase their products and engage in B2B sales to assess market acceptance, ultimately leading to potential regular placements based on verified consumer responses and buyer demand.
The launch event attracted notable figures from Oman's political and economic sectors, highlighting significant interest in Seoul's lifestyle products. This event served to promote not only the local products but also the hub itself, creating opportunities for future business collaborations.
To maximize local consumer engagement, the initiative will connect online sales to important local e-commerce platforms, including Talabat Oman, a key online delivery and commerce platform, as well as the Korea-centric online platform, Hankuk Store.
Now in its fourth year, the 'Seoul Lifestyle Hub Initiative' aims to validate consumer reactions and market viability for Seoul SMEs wishing to expand internationally, thereby linking successful products to regular marketplace entry.
Oman, selected as this year’s Middle Eastern hub, boasts a significant geographical advantage with its access to key ports that do not require passage through the Strait of Hormuz. The SBA believes this strategic location will allow the expansion of Seoul enterprises into Oman, building upon previous efforts centered in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The initiative is designed not only as a one-time exhibition but also aims to transition successful companies into permanent local online and offline channels, exploring further potential in additional markets as part of the ongoing support for continuous export expansion.
Lee Jae-hoon, Head of the Marketing Division at SBA, emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for local consumers and buyers to experience Seoul products directly. He stated that ongoing support for the recognition of Seoul lifestyle companies in Oman and other global hubs would aim for tangible export results, including regular marketplace entries.
