The growth of K-beauty exports continues unabated, with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups reporting that the export value of cosmetics from small and medium-sized enterprises reached $5.07 billion in the first half of 2026, marking a 30.7% increase from the previous year. As an indicator of this trend, Shinhan Investment Corp predicts that by 2027, South Korean cosmetics will capture more than 5% of the global market share. Central to this trend are indie beauty brands that are characterized by innovative concepts and rapid adaptability to market changes.

In line with this dynamic, a significant business platform for various indie brands will take place in Seoul next spring. 'Indie Beauty Seoul 2027' is scheduled to run from April 8 (Thursday) to April 10 (Saturday) at the COEX Magok.

Indie Beauty Seoul aims to provide diverse opportunities for brands to establish a solid market presence and drive business results, focusing on a 'beauty incubating business platform' rather than merely showcasing products. This exhibition will emphasize 'brand experiences' that effectively highlight each brand's philosophy, story, and product competitiveness.

The event will be open to a range of sectors within the beauty industry, including cosmetics, clean and ESG practices, fragrance and lifestyle, inner beauty and wellness, beauty tech, raw materials, OEM, packaging, and distribution and marketing, featuring 200 companies and 350 booths in 2027.

In addition to facilitating business consultations, the event will include programs such as a K-beauty overseas buyer consultation meeting and a domestic MD distribution consultation meeting to support the brand’s expansion in both domestic and international markets. A key focus will be on expanding touchpoints with influencers to provide marketing and promotional support that goes beyond traditional buyer consultations.

'Influencer Networking Days' will enable direct interactions between beauty influencers and indie brands, allowing for discussions on content creation, bulk purchases, and collaborative product development. Further, 'Beauty Creator Live Commerce' will facilitate real-time sales experiences on-site, helping to raise brand awareness and sales performance.

Programs to share necessary practical insights for brand growth will also be arranged, including the 'Beauty CON Insight Seminar' to share trends and industry information, a one-day class known as 'Beauty Skill-up Workshop' to boost practical skills, and 'The Founder’s Story' to hear business narratives from beauty brand entrepreneurs. These resources are aimed at providing information suited to brands at all growth stages, from startup to scale-up.

Furthermore, experiential content such as 'IB’s Choice Brand Showcase', 'Indie Beauty Trend Pavilion', and 'Beauty Atelier' will also be featured to showcase unique concepts and ideas from brands.

An official from Indie Beauty Seoul mentioned, “Indie brands are gaining recognition as a driving force behind the growth of K-beauty due to their unique stories and quick responsiveness to trends. Indie Beauty Seoul is being prepared to be a business platform that offers comprehensive support for participating brands, beyond just buyer consultations to include opportunities for collaboration with influencers, ensuring that they can generate tangible results even after the exhibition. Moreover, we plan to actively discover and support the growth of emerging brands with high growth potential in the beauty startup landscape.”

Currently, early bird registration for participating companies in 'Indie Beauty Seoul 2027' is open until October 30 (Friday). For further details regarding participation and the upcoming event, information is available through the official website.
